The Stocking Were Hung Machine Embroidery

Before Class, Please Do the Following:

Print out the Supply List and Cutting Instructions page

Print out the instructions per your hoop size before class: I used the following hoops to make different parts of the quilt.  Print the instructions for your biggest hoop. Not sure what instructions to print? Print them all.

Bring all the hoops to class.  I used them all.

120 x 120, 240 x 150, 200 x 260, 200 x 360 and Epic users also bring 260 x 360.

I applied Mary Ellen’s Best Press to all my fabrics BEFORE CUTTING. I applied two times before cutting out the fabrics.

Cut and prepare fabrics per instructions. I used a woven fusible interfacing on the back of the fabrics. I like to “Pre shrink” the fusible interfacing by holding an iron above it (not touching it) with the fusible side up on my ironing board and “steaming” it several times. Let it cool and then cut a piece slightly smaller than the fabrics, Using a press cloth apply to the back of the background fabrics and “Press” don’t “Iron” it on. Take it slow and make sure it is fused and does not have any wrinkles. Apply to all pieces that it tells you to do.

I do not want you to apply borders to center piece before class. I would hate for you to spend time on it and then we end up having an issue and you must do all the work over again. The extra piece of center background fabric could also be prepped just in case you need it. (Let’s hope you don’t!!)

I used a medium tear away stabilizer (Not Tear Easy).

KK2000

Blue Wash Out Marker (not a quilt pencil)

Basic sewing and embroidery supplies

40 weight embroidery threads

White bobbin thread – 60 weight.  Wind lots of bobbins

Hoop Templates for your hoops. If you do not have them for a hoop, make them before class. I use template plastic. Stop in and see me if you need help making templates.

Large long ruler for marking.

Please have all this done before class as we will not have time in class.

It’s a great idea to put your printed pages in sleeve protectors and in a notebook for easy access.

I look forward to this class. Please let me know how I can help you with any steps in the prep work.

Libby
