Applique By Machine using Patch Abilities Patterns

Fabrics per pattern you choose
Pattern of choice from Patch Abilities

In this class I will show you several different types of fusible webs. If you already own some fusible web bring it otherwise wait til I show you what the different  types are and you can purchase in class.

Threads - once again I will show you some different threads. Bring threads you already own in colors that coordinate with your fabric choices OR you can do the stitching all in one color such as black. I will show you 80 weight threads, regular 50 wt thread and 40 wt embroidery threads.

Tear Easy Stabilizer - This is a light tear away stabilizer. Once again if  you have something bring it but I will show you about stabilizers.

Small class iron and iron pad
Teflon press cloth - when using fusible webs you want to have a press cloth so the fusible does not get on your iron or iron pad.

Scissors to cut fabric and thread snips. I like a smaller to medium pair of scissors for cutting the fabric shapes. Too large of a scissor does not work well. Karen Kay Buckley scissors are great. I like the green and blue handle scissors for this type of project.

Bobbins - bring lots of bobbins, I like to match my top and bobbin when doing applique.

Pencil to trace with. You can use a very fine point sharpie also.

Tweezers - I fine sharp tip tweezer is helpful but not required.

In this class there will be a lot of demonstrations. We will not even come close to getting the project done, It is a way to show you different products. This is a raw edge project.

If you are using any light colored fabrics that will lay over dark fabrics, you will need to purchase Woven Fusible Interfacing - We will also discuss this in class.

Bring basic sewing and quilting supplies, pen and paper for notes

Before class:

Press all your fabrics.  I like to use Mary Ellen's Best Press on my fabrics to give them just a bit more stiffness.

Cut the background fabric per pattern. If your patten has a background fabric with a border then sew border to background fabric before class.
