Beginning Quilting - Log Cabin Sampler Quilt

Log Cabin Sampler  (list subject to additions and changes)

Before first class buy materials and supplies.  15% discount is offered at The Silver Thimble .

Before first class wash all fabrics and press all fabrics, liberally spraying with Mary Ellen's Best Press.  This is an alternative to traditional spray starch.  It will provide stability when cutting and piecing fabrics.  Do not cut any fabric.

When buying fabric look at the pattern suggestions.  There are 4 different colorways shown in the pattern that will be helpful when choosing fabric colors and textures.  Make sure colors don't mush/blend and there are a variety of textures.  Each fabric should have a bit of contrast with one another.  They suggest medium and dark shades; however, I used a couple of light/medium shades too.  Wait to buy your final border fabric until you have constructed the sampler quilt.  Once the quilt is constructed it is easier to see what is pleasing to the eye for the final phase/border.  We will be glad to help you select your fabrics at Silver Thimble.
